• 1959

    Humble Beginnings
    Born in the city of Agra, GKB (Gopal Krishna Brothers) started off with just four hand-operated single machines to surface ophthalmic lenses in the verandah of a house.

  • 1975

    Going International
    GKB was amongst the first manufacturing units in the country to have installed imported automatic generators. At the same time it also embarked omn an ambitious export journey.

  • 1980

    Export Award
    GKB received the special CAPEXIL Export awards for Ophthalmic Lenses, for the first time ever in the country.

  • 1982

    Mr. Mahendra K, the youngest of the Gopal Krishna Brothers was the first to explore new horizons. He moved to Goa to set up a 100% export oriented unit.

  • 1985

    India’s first prescription laboratory was started under the banner of Goa Optolabs Pvt. Ltd. and subsequently a manufacturing unit in Delhi was set up. Taking the first step to become a network of Lab and Service Centres.

  • 1991-92

    New Start
    When the family decided to go different ways in 1991, Goa Optolabs came under the management of Mr. Mahendra K. Gupta. Under his dynamic leadership the company today has grown by leaps and bounds. Subsequently he incorporated GKB Hi-Tech in 1992.

  • 1996

    Foray into Retail Business
    GKB Optolabs started its retail foray in Goa.

  • 1999

    New Chapter
    Launched its first international distribution network outside India, in South Africa.

  • 2004-2011

    New Associations
    Successful completion of partnership with Carl Zesis, World’s leading opthatmic brand.

  • 2011

    Global Giant
    Starting of a new pertnership with Essilor and Signet Armorlite. Also launched Kodak Lens and Asahi-Lite Lenses in India. Launched operations in Dubai.

  • 2015

    Branding Growth
    GKB Hi-Tech launches Kodak Lens. Swiss Lens and International series of Lenses in India backed by aggressive marketing and TV campaigns.
